What is Call Applications Manager (CAM)?
Evercom’s Call Applications Manager offers feature-rich applications that provide call control, inmate telephone activity tracking, powerful investigative and administrative tools, and remote functionality — all from a truly integrated platform.

Can a facility set different levels of access to certain information for different personnel?
Evercom's secure access multi-level password program was specifically designed to allow just that. Facility administrators can assign individual personnel different levels of access to CAM's features (allowing some but not all officers to see who has listened to certain calls, for example). A new CAM system has nine access levels pre-set by Evercom, then administrators may modify those levels or create additional levels based on individual facility needs.

Does CAM have fraud-prevention capabilities?
The CAM system from Evercom employs the most sophisticated intelligent validation network in the industry. This real-time computer-based switching system analyzes all dialed numbers before allowing a call to proceed.

Does CAM announce the inmate's name and the facility they're calling from each time they make a call?
When PINs (personal identification numbers) are used in a facility, the inmate's name can be pre-recorded to be reused each time the inmate makes a call. Likewise, the name of the facility can be set to be announced on each phone call.

Do call charges start as soon as the inmate picks up the handset?
No. Since there are various announcements and actions that happen on each call before an inmate's conversation can begin, CAM does not begin charging for a call until the call is positively accepted by the called party.

Can we set a time limit on inmate calls? Can we restrict phone privileges by inmates and timeframes?
You can set system-wide limits or set daily, weekly, or monthly time limits based on an individual personal identification number (PIN) assigned to a specific detainee. In fact, administrators can control, restrict, and track all inmate calling activities. Each inmate can be restricted by time of day, week, or month. They can also restrict who the inmate may call when disciplinary action is warranted.

Can we exempt some phones from being recorded?
CAM gives administrators the ability to turn on or off recording across the entire facility, selectively in specific areas, or selectively by individual phone.

Can we prevent certain destination numbers from being called by inmates?
Evercom can set up blocks or apply restrictions to any area code, prefix, or destination number requested by the customer.

Can CAM alert us when a call is made to a specific destination number? Can it forward a call in progress to a phone outside of the facility?
CAM allows administrators to designate specific numbers as "watched." When a call is made to a "watched" number, an alert is sent to a CAM workstation notifying facility personnel that a call to that number has just been placed.
Calls in progress can be forwarded to another phone so an investigator can listen to the call as it happens. This can happen on watched numbers, or it can be done anytime a call is being monitored (if suspicious activity is noticed while the call is in progress, for example.) Calls can be forwarded in this way to any authorized phone, even a cell phone.

What information does CAM store on each phone call?
Along with the call, other pertinent information is stored. This information includes what phone the call was made from; what number was called; the date, time, and duration of the call; the call charges; the PIN used (if any); and the result (e.g., busy tone, customer blocked the call, no answer, called party hung up, etc.). Additionally, you can add your own notes to a call record. This is useful for investigators who can add a case number, call summary, or other information to any particular call.

Can investigators listen to inmate calls as they happen?
With CAM, audio monitoring of a call is easy. Just click on any call in progress and you can hear it — as it happens — through a speakerphone, handset, or headset.

How long does CAM keep call recordings?
All call detail records and conversations are stored on CAM's hard drive. Depending on the number of calls made and size of the hard drive, recordings might stay on the hard drive for months or even years. When the hard drive fills up, recordings can be saved to a built-in Advanced Intelligent Tape (AIT) device for long-term storage. Tapes are managed by the facility, so these can be kept as long as necessary.

Can we copy calls to give to investigators or to take into court?
CAM can copy calls and call detail records to a CD, which can then be played back in data format on any compatible PC. Calls can also be saved in an audio format on a CD for playback on a CD player.

What reports does CAM provide?
CAM comes with 14 basic reports. You can define your search criteria to narrow what you see on the reports — by dates or phone numbers or phone locations, etc.

Can CAM share information with any other applications?
CAM operates on a secure platform that allows information to be shared automatically with other applications from Evercom, such as our Justice Applications Manager. CAM can also be configured to share specific information with other applications. Evercom's secure interface can be set up to share information with other correctional vendor systems to allow real-time debiting of an inmate's account for commissary purchases, pre-paid cards, etc. For particular information about this functionality with specific applications, we encourage you to talk with an Evercom sales representative.

Does CAM track who makes changes or deletions to a call record, or who has listened to a call?
CAM's multi-level security application includes an activity log which shows any additions, deletions, or other changes made within the system. It also tracks who listens to what calls.

Can we get CAM's recording and monitoring benefits if we allow inmates to use Evercom's pre-paid calling cards?
Absolutely! The full range of CAM's investigative tools, security, call tracking and control features are all available when inmates use pre-paid calling cards.
